Hope Welty Public Library District Board of Trustees Minutes
September 10, 2010
Call to Order:
The regular monthly meeting of the Hope Welty Public Library (HWPL) District board of trustees was held at the library on September 10, 2010. The meeting was called to order at 1:00 PM by the President. Present were board members: Irma Joynt, Janice Lonnon, Mary Hissong, Tracy Mogged, and Library Director, Sandra Hayes. Absent was Genea Lawler and Chelle Shively.
Minutes of last HWPL meeting:
Minutes of the previous month's HWPL board meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer's Report:
The treasurer's report was given by Tracy and showed a balance of $86,770.44. Expenses for the month were $9,111.22. Tracy moved expenses be allowed, and Mary seconded the motion. All present voted aye. Motion carried.
Announcements:
Time for Librarian:
- Sandi attended the Small Public Library director’s meeting.
- Building repair on neighboring building should start in 2 weeks
- Sandi requests to rearrange the circulation desk to make it more practical. – Delayed until next meeting.
- Sandi would like to remove kitchenette and framing in the office. – Delayed until next meeting.
Old Business:
● S&S Landscaping’s bid for the west of the library was reviewed. It was decided to ask for a new bid for putting down rock, only, and being specific about digging down and placing a specific amount of rock.
● Per Capita grant was discussed. Mary moved to go ahead and have Sandi apply for the Per Capita grant for FY11. Tracy seconded the motion. All present voted aye; motion carried.
New Business:
- Outside posts need painting.
- The library will place an ad in the Cerro Gordo yearbook at a cost of $50. Tracy moved to have an ad in the Cerro Gordo yearbook. Mary seconded the motion. All present voted aye; motion carried.
- Levy amounts will be increased by 5% over last year’s amounts.
- Request to purchase a netbook for public use. Janice moved to purchase a netbook from the memorial fund. Mary seconded the motion. All present voted aye; motion carried.
