                                                October 8, 2014

 Call to Order

  The regular meeting of the Hope Welty Public Library (HWPL) District Board of Trustees was held at the library on October 8, 2014. President Genea Lawler called the meeting to order at 1:00pm. Answering roll call were: Genea Lawler, Janice Lonnon, Tracy Mogged, Chelle Shively,Linda Martin, Mary Hissong and Library Director, Shari Rawlings. Nancy McDermith absent.

 Minutes of the Last HWPL Meeting

 In the absence of Secretary Nancy McDermith each trustee silently read the minutes of the September 10, 2014 meeting. Janice Lonnon moved to accept the minutes  as read. Tracy Mogged seconded the motion. All present voted aye. Motion carried.

 Treasurer's Report

 The Treasurer's report was given by treasurer, Chelle Shively and showed a balance of $157,277.19 before paying this month's bills. Expenses for the month are $8,222.78.  Mary Hissong moved expenses be allowed and Tracy Mogged seconded the motion. Roll call vote yes: Mary Hissong, Genea Lawler, Janice Lonnon, Linda Martin, Tracy Mogged, and Chelle Shively. No nays.  Nancy McDermith absent.  Motion carried.

 Treasurer Chelle Shively stated that the $60,000 CD at the State Bank of Cerro Gordo has  matured. Discussion followed concerning options of what to do with the mature CD. It was decided to roll the CD over into another CD.  Tracy Mogged moved to roll $60,975.10 over  into another 30 month CD at the rate of .40%, to remove Mrs. Joynt's signature  on the CD and add Genea Lawler and Linda Martin, and require two signatures to withdraw of change the CD.  Mary Hissong, Genea Lawler , Janice Lonnon, Linda Martin, Tracy Mogged, and Chelle Shively. NO nays. Nancy McDermith absent. Motion carried.

 Time for Director

 Director Shari Rawlings is currently working on the Tech Plan - will have in place before the per capita plan

  Date for the Christmas Decorating Party / Lunch - It was decided we would decorate for Christmas on Monday, November24,2014 at 10:30 am.   Lunch will follow at 11:30 and  will be catered by Judy's Kitchen.

 October 17 has been set for a family movie night and will be held indoors

 There will be a family reading night held sometime in November

 There is a Christmas craft being planned  for at the school.

Per Cap Grant money/ Spend - Director Shari Rawlings has sent in the per cap grant for 2014. It was noted that the money from 2013 has not been spent as yet.  The monies must be spent by June 2015 and must be spent on educational material.  Shari will continue to look for the best option on which to spend the money.

 Shari Rawlings announced that she had hired Mitch Dodson as a part time employee of the library.  Tracy Mogged moved to approve the hiring of Mitch Dodson at the rate of $9.00/ hour.  Mary Hissong, Genea Lawler, Janice Lonnon, Linda Martin, Tracy Mogged, and Chelle Shively. No nays. Nancy McDermith absent. Motion  carried.

 Closed Session

 Tracy Mogged moved and Chelle Shively seconded that the board go into closed session to discuss Christmas bonuses for all staff. All present  voted aye. No nays. Motion carried.

 Mary Hissong moved to go back into regular session. Tracy Mogged seconded. All present voted aye. No nays. Motion carried. Janice Lonnon move to present Christmas bonuses Roll call vote yes: Mary Hissong, Janice Lonnon, Linda Martin, Tracy Mogged, and Chelle Shivley. No nays Genea Lawler abstained. Nancy McDermith absent.

 Next Meeting Date

 The next regular meeting for the HWPL District Board of Trustees will Nov. 12,2014 at 1:00 pm at the library.

Meeting Adjourned

Tracy Mogged moved to adjourn the meeting and Janice Lonnon seconded the motion. All present voted aye. Motion carried.
