Call to Order:

The regular monthly meeting of the Hope Welty Public Library (HWPL) District board of trustees was held at the library on May 14, 2010.  The meeting was called to order at 1:00 PM by the President.  Present were board members: Irma Joynt, Janice Lonnon, Genea Lawler,Mary Hissong, Chelle Shively and Library Director, Sandra Hayes.  Absent was Janice Buckley and Tracy Mogged. 

Minutes of last HWPL meeting:

Minutes of the previous month's HWPL board meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer's Report:

The treasurer's report was given by the director and showed a balance of $66,364.54.  Expenses for the month were $7,345.26.  Mary moved expenses be allowed, and Cheel seconded the motion.  All present voted aye.  Motion carried. 

Announcements:

• Thank you note was sent to Andrea Marley for her $100 donation.

Time for Librarian:

• A $35 summer reading program was donated by Dr. Socher
• Budgeting for Boards was attended by Sandra; Special reserve Fund was recommended by Sandra for future expenses.
• Library is having craft night once a month
• Might have a future fundraiser for the summer reading program
• Need to remove yews in front of the library;  Sandra will get 3 estimates
• Hunter Keller has been hired to help for the summer.

Old Business:

●         Library closing policy was reviewed and accepted.    Genea moved to accept the library closing policy, and Chelle seconded the motion.  All present voted aye.  Motion carried. 

New Business:

• Election of officers
• President – Irma Joynt
• Vice President – Mary Hissong
• Secretary – Janice Lonnon
• Treasurer – to be voted on during June meeting
• Chelle moved to accept the present officers, and Genea seconded the motion.  All present voted aye.  Motion carried. 
• The following policies were given to the board for review:– Accidents/First Aid/Unsafe Working Conditions; ALA /Ethhics Statement for Public Library Trustees; ALA Library Bill of Rights; ALA Statement of Professional Ethics; Budget and Finance Policy; Copyright Restrictions; (Patron) Discipline Policy
