Hope Welty Public Library Board of Trustees

March 11, 2011

Call to Order:

The regular monthly meeting of the Hope Welty Public Library (HWPL) District board of trustees was held at the library on March 11, 2011.  The meeting was called to order at 1:00 PM by the President.  Present were board members:  Irma Joynt, Mary Hissong, Genea Lawler, Nancy McDermith,  Tracy Mogged, Chelle Shively and Library Director, Sandra Hayes.  Absent was Janice Lonnon.

Public Forum:   Community member Jerry Shively was present stating that he would like to see the E-reader come to they library.  He also expressed desire to see the meeting room at the library update the pictures.

Minutes of last HWPL meeting:

Minutes of the previous month’s HWPL board meeting were read and approved.  4 - 5’and 4 - 6’ tables were donated to the school district.  The rest are still available.

Treasurer’s Report:

The treasurer’s report was given by Tracy Mogged and showed a balance of $121,441.57.  Expenses for the month are $7181.51.  Mary Hissong moved the expenses be allowed and Chelle Shively seconded the motion.  All present voted aye.  Motion carried.

Announcements: 
No announcements for the March 11, 2011 HWPL District board meeting.

Time for Librarian:

Sandi reported that she had received 1 bid for the drywall in the book area from Jones & Sullivan for $1400.  This item will be placed on a future agenda.

Sandi had reported that a trustee workshop will be held March 26 if anyone is interested in attending.  The physics van will be at the library on March 18.  Middle school students will receive extra credit for attending.   The library computers will be down for updating on Tues., Wed., and Thurs.

Sandi reported on the IL Heartland Library System merger.  Delivery of materials is determined by volume and our delivery will be the same as it currently.

Mike Martin will hold a book signing on Saturday for his book.

North side of building needs the mulch raked away.  Sandi will contact Nic Morganthaler to take care of this and some other cleaning.  Sandi will call Burdick’s about the drainage on the north side of the building

Old Business:

  .tabled review of “Serving Our Public 2.0: Standards for Illinois Public Libraries’ Chapter 3

  . Library Renovation

            -waiting on flooring bids, cabinets, etc. bidding ends 3/3/11

            - Sandi to contact J & M Circulation desk, cabinets

            - door bid from Rogers Automated Entrance was $3935.00 ( no electrical)

            - Brian Clark is to come for window bids

            -Next meeting will be March 25, 2011 at 1:00 PM.  The trustees will meet every two weeks to work on the renovation of the library.  Sandi will post the meeting.

New Business:

Todd Henricks presented Trustee/Directors Insurance quotes.  Chelle Shively made a motion to accept the bid for insurance up to but no more than $1135.00 for premium seconded by Nancy McDermith.  All present voted aye; the motion carried.

Motion made by Tracy Mogged to increase Deb Hull's pay $50.00 more per month to $250.00 for cleaning.  Mary Hissong seconded motion.  All present voted aye; the motion carried.

The Job Description for the Library Director was discussed.  Changes were in bold. No action was taken.

The Evaluation of the Library Director was presented.  No action was taken.
