Hope Welty Public Library Board of Trustees

April 8, 2011

Call to Order:

The regular monthly meeting of the Hope Welty Public Library (HWPL) District board of trustees was held at the library on April 8, 2011.  The meeting was called to order at 1:00 PM by the President.  Present were board members:  Irma Joynt, Janice Lonnon, Genea Lawler, Nancy McDermith,  Tracy Mogged, Chelle Shively and Library Director, Sandra Hayes.  Absent was Mary Hissong.

Public Forum:   None

Minutes of last HWPL meeting:

Minutes of the previous month’s HWPL board meeting were read and approved with corrections.

Treasurer’s Report:

The treasurer’s report was given by Tracy Mogged and showed a balance of $114,756.06.  Expenses for the month are $7444.82.  Tracy moved the expenses be allowed and Nancy seconded the motion.  All present voted aye.  Motion carried.

Announcements: 
No announcements.

Time for Librarian:

The U of I Physics van had attendance of 75.  HWPL received a letter awarding $3,576.54 for the Per Capita Grant.  The library no longer is using Mediacom for internet; Frontier is now the high-speed internet provider.  There will be a Small Public Library Director’s meeting here on Apr. 28; we will be providing lunch from the Lodge Bakery.

Old Business:

·        “Serving Our Public 2.0: Standards for Illinois Public Libraries’ Chapter 3 – copies given to board members to review

·        Library Renovation

o       Tracy Mogged moved to accept the bids from Brent McNamara for flooring, drywall repair, and no-maintenance flooring for $20,610.76 plus any up-charge for the no-maintenance floor (approx. $200).  Genea Lawler seconded the motion. All present voted aye; motion carried.

·        Bylaws, long range plan and mission statement have been tabled until a future date

New Business:

Vicki Mercer requested a raise.  Genea Lawler made a motion to raise Vicki’s salary to $325 per month seconded by Chelle Shively.  All present voted aye; the motion carried.

Motion made by Tracy Mogged to hire a student helper during the summer program at $7.75 per hour.  Nancy McDermith seconded motion.  All present voted aye; the motion carried.
