Hope Welty Public Library Board of Trustees

December 14, 2012

Call to Order:

The regular monthly meeting of the Hope Welty Public Library (HWPL) District board of trustees was held at the library on December 14 ,2012. The meeting was called to order at 1:00PM. by president, Irma Joynt. Present were board members: Irma Joynt, Mary Hissong, Genea Lawler, Janice Lonnon, Nancy McDermith, and Library Director, Shari Rawlings. Chelle Shivley and Tracy Mogged arrived late.

Public Forum:   None

Minutes of last HWPL meeting:

Genea Lawler moved to accept the minutes of the HWPL District board of trustees meeting on November 9 , 2012 as read and Mary Hissong seconded the motion. All present voted aye. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report:

The treasurer's report was given by Chelle Shivley, treasurer. There is a balance of $128,967.65 before paying this month's bills. Expenses for this month are $7827.46. Nancy McDermith moved expenses be allowed and Genea Lawler seconded the motion. Roll call vote yes: Irma Joynt, Mary Hissong, Genea Lawler, Janice Lonnon, Nancy MeDermith, and Chelle Shivley. Tracy Mogged was absent.  No nays. Motion carried.

Director's Report

16 children attended the story and craft time following the Christmas on the Hill Parade. This was a much smaller group than las year when 40 attended.

A princess tea partywas held on December 8 with only 4 little girls attending. 10 girls had signed up to attend. The Piatt Co. Fair Queen did a good job reading and interacting with the girls.

 Shari did a webinar this week. She did get several ideas for the future activities.

 Shari will attend training in Decatur through the IHLS on the new program they will be using soon.

 There will be information coming in January from the state on libraries being certified.

F E Moran came and evaluated the library for smoke and security alarms but has not sent a report. Getz Fire has not contacted Shari about coming

Shari will be sending the information requested in order to renew our tax exempt status.

Shari will be gone from 12/19 - 12/27 for her daughter's graduation in MN.

New Business

Open Meetings Act- Trustees were reminded to complete the testing on the Open Meeting Act before December 31,2012.

 Reviewed the Statment of Purpose in the By-Laws.

The next regular meeting of the HWPL District Board of Trustees will be held  January 11, 2013 at 1 PM.

Janice Lonnon moved to adjourn the meeting of the HWPL District Board of Trustees at  2:05 PM. Nancy McDermith seconded the motion. All pressent voted aye. Motion carried.
