Hope Welty Public Library

Major Gifts and Bequests Policy

The Major Gifts/Bequests Policy of Hope Welty Public Library is established to provide for a secure future of the library in the Cerro Gordo community.  Residents and interested parties are encouraged to help provide for this future by donating, as they are able, in honor or memory of friends and family, to help sustain the library’s services and programs for future generations.

“Hope’s Legacy Fund” is the central point of this project, encouraging individuals and families to take their place alongside hers in providing significant support for the library’s future.  Just as Miss Hope Welty lived her short life in service to the library, interested persons now can provide for the continuation of the library for the benefit of future generations.

A donation of $500.00 is the required minimum donation for Hope’s Legacy Fund.  The donor’s name or tribute name will be added to the Hope’s Legacy fund plaque.  Up to 25% of a Legacy donation will be used at once to provide library materials, furnishings or programs, unless otherwise agreed by the library and donor.  The remainder of the donation will be invested in the Hope’s Legacy fund, the interest from which shall be used every year for library needs.

The library also accepts other memorials and monetary donation designed to pay tribute to a special person or occasion.  The library maintains a wish list of projects and equipment needed to improve the library’s facilities and services.  Donations of real property, trusts, and insurance or will designations are all acceptable.  The library director will be happy to discuss these options with interested parties.  United Way donations through one’s employer may be directed to Hope Welty Public Library.  Other forms of support include Honor books and Adopt-a-Program.  Please inquire for details of these and other donor programs.
